Display the past, present and future program schedule in a way that is immediately clear, avoids time-zone confusion, and conveys the brand’s real-time aspect.

My design and implementation went beyond requirements: not only hitting all objectives, but also conveying the enchantment of real-time connection to an observatory on the other side of the world, making it a strong tool for conversions.

Actions

• Designed UI to display the public program schedule (past, present and future) as a scrollable horizontal ticker that advances every second
• Designed UI to display reservable time slots on a horizontal time graph, using color-coding, rollovers and click ability to make the UI both a display and an input
• Used labeling and colors strategically to convey remote-observatory-time as both “now” and “offset from now”
• Polling logic in the client updated the schedule with last-minute revisions and changes in viewing conditions
