Programmers have design patterns. Writers have figures of speech.

Found this chart today, created by Curtis Niebold, The Visual Communication Guy, and it looks like a great resource for anyone doing more than casual writing. Probably a good thing to review from time, to keep ourselves aware of the time-tested, reusable solutions at our disposal in the job of communicating ideas.
